We have had a much cooler week this week, thank goodness, with just a couple of little showers that didn’t last very long so watering has had to be added to the list of early morning jobs to be done. I’m only watering pots and plants that were planted in early spring before the first heatwave started, everything else will have to cope.

Plants seem to be coping well so far, there was plenty for me to photograph when I had my early morning wander yesterday, so lets get on with SOS for this week………….

Geranium.

A double geranium, Geranium pratense Summer Skies, which is in the border surrounding the dead oak. Such a lovely flower and a beautiful pale blue, what could be better!

Hemerocallis.

Another daylily which I couldn’t include last week. This is a medium sized one with flowers to match, nice colour.

This daylily is a small variety, not very tall and the flowers are much smaller than the ones I showed last week. I like the white edging to the petals.

Brimstone.

I know I showed Crocosmia Lucifer last week, but while I was taking my photos, I was buzzed by a yellow butterfly, can you see it, hanging down in the centre, from the top flower?

Fortunately it moved and there it was in all its glory, a beautiful yellow Brimstone butterfly. Yesterday was a good day for butterflies, so many of them fluttering round the garden.

Clematis.

Also last week I showed just one flower on the Clematis Super Nova, this week it is covered in flowers, looking fantastic.

Clematis Prince George is taking after his grandfather, a good spreader, climbing everywhere! This has climbed up and over the pergola and I didn’t notice it at first.

It was only when I walked through the pergola that I found that it had climbed up and over into the shade, maybe the sun was too strong for it!

Malva Moschata alba.

A plant that seeds gently round the garden is very welcome indeed. It only grows to about 2ft tall and is never a problem so is very welcome to stay.

Rose.

Rosa Geoff Hamilton is flowering on all cylinders at the moment, making a lovely displey in the border, nice perfume too!

Today has started out rather dull and cloudy, but cooler too, which is lovely for me. At least having done my gardening very early in the morning when it has been so hot, it means I can sit and watch  Wimbledon with a clear conscience! If you want to see more plants and flowers, then do pop over to Jim at Garden Ruminations where he will have plenty for you to look at.

The Super Nova clematis is a beauty, looking lovely in the dappled shade of your garden. The colouration to my eye makes it unusual and it has a lovely abundance of blooms.
