Six on Saturday. 22.11.2025.

First of all I must apologise for last week when I just managed to post my offering and made a couple of comments on other posts when all went pearshaped re the internet. Talk Talk said it was due to Storm Claudia but don’t know if that was true or not. Have had problems all week, an engineer came yesterday and she said a new router was needed and would come next week sometime but I hope my old one is working now! I had thought I wouldn’t have anything to show you this week but nature and the sprinkling of frost made sure that I had.

This photo was taken before the frost came this week, it is Iris unguicularis which is under the dining room window in a nice warm corner. It isn’t looking so happy now with the frost over the last couple of nights.

Another photo taken before the frosts came, this one is the Dunwich Rose and is in the front garden between the box balls.

Here we have the box balls yesterday with their sprinkling of frost.

Leaves still waiting to be swept up are all looking rather frosty.

The circular lawn which was the meadow in the summer, now with its coating of frost. At last I have clipped my box ginger jar, makes a nice contrast but I think I need to use a spirit level!

Mahonia Cabaret has a sprinkling to enhance the autumn colour, this is the only autumn colour I have left in the garden, all the other leaves have fallen and are stacked away in the woodland for leafmould.

There we have my six for this week, the temperature only got down to -4 and is now rising and I don’t think we will have any more frost, for the coming week at least. Thanks to Jim for hosting at Garden Ruminations once more, do pay him a visit if you would like to see gardens from around the world.

A sprinkling of frost makes for some lovely photos. I love the splashes of red on the Mahonia leaves. I’m glad your internet is up and running again and is hopefully okay. I won’t bore you with any more of my TalkTalk experiences!

The frost did make the garden look pretty for a couple of days Graeme, but it is back to rain once more now! Apparently I will be getting a new router but will have to install it myself…ha ha! Hope my children can help me over the phone!

  2. Helen Jones says:

I love these frosty pictures, especially the garden view. I love the box ginger jar, spirit level or not!

    • Pauline says:

Thanks Helen, the frost did make the garden look very different for a couple of days. You’re very kind re the Ginger Jar, must try harder next time!

  3. Fred says:

This iris is gorgeous! It’s lucky you photographed it before the frosts because there probably isn’t much left now. I also really like the lovely colours of the Mahonia.

    • Pauline says:

Thanks Fred, you are right though, it has now almost vanished, nice while it lasted. The Mahonia is a star this year with its lovely colouring, the first time it has been like this.

  4. Jim Stephens says:

Your picture of Iris unguicularis reminds me that I once had it in my garden and no longer have. Pretty thing, I wonder what happened to it.

Some lovely pictures in the frost! The Mahonia looks great with its red leaves.
