Our lovely hot, sunny weather is coming to an end this weekend but I think the garden will be glad as it has been so long without any real rain. Flowers are not lasting as long as usual, which is a shame, but maybe the rain and cooler weather will sort that out. Still lots of new flowers opening, so let me show you six that have impressed me this week.

A double primrose which was given to me many years ago by a friend who was visiting.

Narcissus Pipit, almost my last narcissus to flower, such a gorgeous perfume with this one.

Cowslips and forget me nots, they have seeded themselves about and created this scene all by themselves, without any help from me!

Erythronium White Beauty in the woodland has opened up more buds for me.

Little tulip Peppermint Stick, is performing beautifully on the alpine scree.

And also on the scree is my Pulsatilla, making a nice display.

There we have my six for this week, there is always something new to look at this time of year. I actually did some weeding the other day, the first time I think since before Christmas! Hopefully I will get a little bit more done today before the rain arrives, if I can get a bit done each day it will make a difference.

Please pay Jim a visit at Garden Ruminations to see more spring flowers in the northern hemisphere, it will be worth it!

Ooh I do like the double Primroses, I’ve not seen the likes of them before.

  2. Jude says:

I had Peppermint Sticks for a few years, but then they disappeared. They are such pretty tulips, I must get some more. Your Pulsatilla is way ahead of mine!

I think my Peppermint Stick have been planted for about 5 yrs now Jude, hope they continue and don’t dwindle! I have a white pulsatilla which is way behind this one, I’ll have to wait for it to catch up!

  3. Jim Stephens says:

I love it when plants create vignettes like your forget-me-nots and cowslips. I have a similar colour combo with forget-me-nots and Anemone x lipsiensis. It’s nigh impossible to create the same affect artificially.

  4. Graeme says:

A lovely selection. I have a white double primrose that I had from a friend at work years ago, but your pale yellow one is a beauty. Most of my Peppermint Sticks are falling over!

  5. Helen Jones says:

I seem to have developed a fondness for Erythronium lately, “White Beauty” really is beautiful.

  6. Fred says:

Wow, very beautiful photo of this pulsatilla! I love it.

  7. Cathy says:

Your cowslips and forget-me-not are really striking, but then again so are all of your six!
