A little bit more sunshine has been on the menu this week but still with lots of rain somedays, in fact on Wednesday the rain was almost biblical and my road became a little river. Bulbs are still opening though and this week has brought more narcissus flowering, also the hellebores are doing very well along with the snowdrops.

Galanthus Wendy’s Gold has taken its time to flower this year, usually she is earlier than this, but even so, it has been worth the wait.

Narcissus Minnow in the side garden is the first of my Minnows to flower, there are a few more round the back.

Narcissus Tete a Tete are here along with the wild snowdrops.

Wordsworth’s daffodil, Narcissus pseudonarcissus, is now flowering in the woodland, more and more yellow is taking over from the white of the snowdrops. I increase these just by sprinkling the seed, they only take about 4 yrs to flower. I started with just one packet of bulbs years ago, I think I must now have a few hundred.

These crocus tommasinianus are growing in the woodland where it is quite sheltered. The crocus on the back lawn were caught by a gale the other day and are now looking a bit sorry for themselves.

Lots of hellebores flowering in all my shady borders, amongst the snowdrops and daffodils, this is a rather nice double spotted one.

Another general view of part of the woodland to finish off with.

There we have it for this week, the birds are pairing up, the squirrels are chasing each other up and down, round and round my ancient trees, the woodpeckers are drummind and the plants all think spring is on its way, but more rain is forecast for the next few weeks, I wonder how many plants will have drowned!

Thanks again to Jim at Garden Ruminations for hosting. I have visitors this weekend so will catch up with you all when I can.

Another cheering selection. ‘Wendy’s Gold’ is lovely. If only it could rain at night (when needed) and be sunny during the day – it doesn’t seem too much to ask!

Wendy’s Gold is a very special snowdrop Graeme, so glad she likes it here. I agree about the rain, but I think we might get a rest for some of this week!

  2. Helen Jones says:

Lovely selection of spring flowers, I especially love the hellebore.

    • Pauline says:

Thanks Helen, I feel spring has arrived here, in spite of all the rain! Hellebores come very close to the snowdrops as being my favourites at the moment.

  3. Fred says:

Narcissus Minnow is so cute. I can’t wait to see mine in bloom!

    • Pauline says:

I like it too Fred, such a lot of lovely small flowers on top of long stems.I’m sure yours will be flowering with the warm weather that you will be getting!

A lovely yellow and white themed post. I do like those snowdrops, so different to the usual green tinged ones. And a fabulous white double hellebore. All my whites are singles, but any flowers are welcome at this time of year. And yes, the rain continues…

    • Pauline says:

The yellow snowdrops do make a nice change Jude, but they don’t seem to be as strong as the green ones unfortunately, Wendy is a good one though. Hopefully we will get some sunshine this week, Wednesday should be good, so they say!
